How it works

Pick an episode you were going to watch anyway. SubShadow finds the subtitles, lines them up with the audio, and turns each line into a short piece of practice.

  1. Find your seriesSearch the catalogue, choose a season and an episode.
  2. We fetch the subtitlesJapanese and English tracks are matched to the exact release and synced against the audio.
  3. Practise one line at a timeHear the clip, type what you heard in hiragana, and get the reading when you need a hint.
  4. Pick up where you left offEvery answer is saved to your account, on any device you sign in from.

SubShadow is built around Japanese for now: the catalogue, the subtitle sources and the reading help are all tuned for it. More languages will follow.
