Privacy Policy

Wordload is a Japanese vocabulary app. We collect only what is needed to run your training program, keep your progress safe across devices, and improve the app. We never sell your data and we do not use it for advertising or tracking.
What we collect
- An account identifier. When you open the app we create an anonymous account so your progress can be backed up. It is not linked to your name or email.
- Sign in with Apple (optional). If you choose to sign in, Apple shares a user identifier and, if you allow it, your email address (which may be a private relay address). We use it only to sign you in and restore your progress.
- Learning data. Which words you studied, whether each answer was correct, response times, session lengths, your daily workload and level. This is what the training engine uses to schedule reviews and set tomorrow’s workload.
- Settings. Such as your reminder time and onboarding status.
- Product analytics and error reports. Events like “session completed” or “paywall viewed”, with numbers such as counts and durations, and technical error messages. These never include what you typed.
We do not collect your contacts, location, photos, microphone audio, advertising identifier or browsing history. We do not use third-party analytics, crash-reporting or advertising SDKs.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details. The app receives only whether your subscription is active.
Reminders
Daily reminders are scheduled on your device. We do not send push notifications from our servers and do not store a push token.
How we use data
- To run your training program and sync progress between devices.
- To understand how the app is used and fix problems.
- To provide support when you contact us.
The legal basis is performance of our agreement with you (running the service) and our legitimate interest in keeping the app reliable and improving it.
Service providers
- Supabase hosts our database, authentication and audio files.
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple and handles in-app purchases.
They process data only on our behalf to provide these services. Data may be processed outside your country; where required, appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses apply.
Retention and deletion
Your data is kept while your account exists. You can permanently delete your account and all associated learning data at any time in the app under Profile → Account → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. Anonymous accounts that are never used again may be removed after 24 months of inactivity.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, export of or deletion of your personal data, and object to processing, by emailing support@subshadow.xyz. If you are in the EU/EEA you may also complain to your local data protection authority (in Norway: Datatilsynet).
Children
Wordload is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy we will update the date above and, where appropriate, tell you in the app.
